New York to London: Over the Big Blue

October 19, 2010

We have made it folks! That’s right, after two subways, one train, two international flights, and another two trains we have arrived at our first stop, London. To be more specific, Greenwich.

Now last let’s not skip ahead… A night in NYC deserves its time in the spot light as well. New York City is so wonderful, because you realize no matter how big you think it really is, it finds ways to remind you that it is just another small city, whether it be a small apartment, small bathroom, or small corner pub. And of course I am being just a little sarcastic, but I tell you, it is easy to feel at home in NYC.

“Can I see an example please?” Well of course! Eric and I were finishing up a wonderful stroll through midtown when I said… “Isn’t that Nick?” and sure enough, we had passed another Ball Stater. Next thing you know we are getting text to meet up with some theatre alum at a Colts bar on 45th St.

It was great to see some old friends and some even older ones. While there, I ran into a very old friend Ashley who I hadn’t seen since freshman year. And to make the night even better, they brought out the karaoke machine. And what do you think Eric and I sang…. “Bye Bye Bye” of course. Bye bye America, and hello Europe.

It gave me a great sense of relief to know that if I can feel at home at one of the biggest cities in the world, Europe will just feel like heading out to the backyard. And sure enough it did. On our first night we met another fellow traveler via a round of tequila shots, but I am going to leave that for another post.

Until next time Eurobites readers… Stay hungry!

*picture of the Pod Hotel which I would recommend to anyone, although very tight rooms. But who wants to be in your room anyway when there is so much to explore!
